Amendments to the Malaysian Patent & Trademark Regulations
The
Malaysian IP Office has made several amendments to the Trade Marks
Regulations 1997 and the Patent Regulations 1986 via the Malaysian
Trade Marks (Amendment) Regulations 2011 and the Malaysian Patents
(Amendment) Regulations 2011. These regulations have both taken effect
from 15 February 2011.
The amendments mark a speedier examination process, and introduces an expedited examination process to reduce both the patent and trademark pendency period.
We anticipate regular updates from the Malaysian IP Office on the new implementation of the amended regulations. Please do check back here for further updates.
