Copyright is the legal protection extended to those who create an original work through sufficient skill and effort. The protection subsists automatically once the work is published or stored in a material form. The type of works protected by Copyright include original literary, dramatic, artistic and musical works, and other works such as sound recordings, films and even databases and computer programs.  If a work qualifies for copyright protection, it gives the owner the right to control the use of his work as well as to prevent it from being copied. The duration for copyright protection depends on the type of work protected.
